How to distinguish vaginal bleeding from menstruation

Some women experience vaginal bleeding shortly after conception. However, vaginal bleeding or blood streaking does not necessarily mean pregnancy.

So how to tell whether bleeding is a sign of pregnancy, menstruation or another health problem? The following article will help you answer this question.

When trying to get pregnant, the 2-week period of waiting for the results of pregnancy test or being late can feel long. You will deeply feel every pain, fatigue and changing taste in your taste, and wonder if this is a sign of early pregnancy.

One of the symptoms easy to see is the pregnancy report. The fertilized egg becomes an embryo. The embryo enters the uterus and implants in the endothelium. When it clings to it, it will cause some bleeding. However, bleeding can also be caused by a menstrual cycle or another health issue. So how do you distinguish them?

What is vaginal bleeding?

By the time the egg is successfully fertilized by sperm, the embryo begins to divide and develop, sending signals to the woman's body to prepare for pregnancy. The lining in the uterine wall (endometrium) then begins to thicken during the menstrual cycle, but they will need to grow and mature even more to protect and nurture the embryo for 9 months.

At any time 6–12 days after fertilization, the embryo develops rapidly, moving down the fallopian tubes into the uterus. It starts to need more nutrients and the endometrium has enough capacity to feed the embryo. At this point, the embryo attaches itself to the endometrium where the nutrients and oxygen are located.

When an embryo is implanted in the uterus, it is able to break down small blood vessels on the spot where it will nest. This won't cause any problems, but some women will experience mild bleeding, pink, red, or brown discharge. This implantation bleeding occurs earlier than the monthly period (usually about 5–10 days after conception).

How to recognize vaginal bleeding and menstruation?

Since implantation bleeding usually occurs before your pregnancy test results, it is difficult to know if mild bleeding is the first sign of pregnancy or just a normal sign of the arrival of menstruation. The best way is to wait a few more days and try again. The last time you had sex can also help you figure out the cause. If it is more than 2 weeks, this is vaginal bleeding.

About a third of women reported that vaginal bleeding is different from menstrual bleeding. Blood is darker in color and not as red as menstrual blood. Others have had mild lower abdominal cramping at the same time they discovered that they had vaginal bleeding. However, most people notice that the 2 types of bleeding are no different at all. So it's not uncommon to see mild vaginal bleeding and a few days after your menstrual cycle.

Mild bleeding during pregnancy is normal. Causes may include problems such as irritation of the cervix after pelvic exam or sexual intercourse or vaginal infection. However, the case of blood appearing after a pregnancy test with a positive result is more likely to be bad that you have an ectopic pregnancy, an egg pregnancy or at risk of miscarriage. In this case, you should see your doctor for an examination. Don't worry too much, it is likely that the blood will bleed slightly and will not last long, everything will be fine, okay?
