What to do to make a baby with a colic feel better?

When young children have colic, they will cry because of the discomfort. However, you can help alleviate this condition with a few simple methods.

If the baby accidentally has colic, not only the children but also the parents. Abdominal pain sometimes results from anxiety, infection, or overeating. You may notice that your baby is in pain when the baby's abdomen is swollen and the legs are pulled closer to the chest.

1. Yogurt

When your baby has a stomach ache, offer a yogurt snack. This dish contains many wonderful neutralizers to help your baby get rid of colic. If the pain is related to diarrhea, the good bacteria in the yogurt will help replenish the lost nutrients in the baby's stomach and intestines. They will help restore balance, allowing the body to absorb more nutrients instead of releasing them.

2. Food tastes bland

You should be given bland foods like porridge, apples and sandwiches… with small portions if your baby has colic. When sick, young children sometimes have no appetite. Foods that are fatty or taste too spicy should not be offered to children, as they can be difficult to digest. Such foods will irritate the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, causing your child to have nausea or diarrhea . On the other hand, bland-flavored foods are usually good for the stomach and easy to digest. You should also not offer apricots or berries when your baby has colic.

3. Chamomile tea

A cup of chamomile tea may be effective in reducing stomach contraction. Chamomile is a natural sedative and anti-inflammatory. Chamomile tea will help relax abdominal muscles and alleviate abdominal pain.

4. Honey

Honey contains many antioxidants, sugars and carbohydrates. However, you should not give honey to children under 1 year old due to the risk of poisoning. If your baby is a toddler, you can make tea with a little honey to increase the flavor and soothe the stomach.

5. Be active outdoors

Another way to help a young child with colic is to get out and play and get active. Encourage your child to walk, ride a bicycle… These activities help stimulate the baby's digestive tract. However, you should also remind your baby not to run too hard because if you exercise too hard, it will make the situation worse.

After you have applied the above methods, your baby still does not go away or the abdominal pain becomes worse, you should take your baby to the hospital to be examined to find out the cause and to have appropriate treatment.
