Phases of growth spurt in infants

Phases of growth spurt in infants

What do you know about growth spikes in babies, especially babies? This is the period when your baby will have the most obvious changes from physical to mental.

The period of rapid growth is one of the turning points in a baby's life and this is also the happiness of parents when they see their children developing both physically and mentally. However, this is also the most remarkable period because at that time the baby will be especially irritable and fussy than usual.

A period of explosive growth can confuse many mothers. That is why you should find out what usually happens in the process.

A jump in growth period in infants

The growth spurt phase is a time when your baby's weight, length and head circumference increase dramatically. Some of your baby's organs will develop rapidly during this period because this is when the cell proliferation is happening rapidly.

When did a big jump in growth happen?

The spike in growth phase can occur at different ages. However, there are some specific ages as follows:

The first boom period: week 2;

The 2nd booming phase: 3 weeks;

The 3rd booming phase: week 6;

The 4th booming phase: 3 months;

5th phase of skyrocketing growth: 6th month.

For each baby, this stage will occur at times other than those listed above, which may be faster or slower.

Signs of a boom in growth

The following common signs indicate that your baby is entering a period of great growth:

Physical growth

Average length and weight (men and women):

Incredible growth period Increased length Weight increased

 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 42.5–3.8 cm907 g

 Times 51–2 cm450-560 g

Head circumference increased:

The stage of rapid growth A boy's head circumference increases . A girl's head circumference increases

 First time, 22.8 cm2.6 cm

 31.8 cm1.8 cm

 41.4 cm1.2 cm

 Times 50.7 cm0.7 cm

At the end of the 5th stage of growth spurt, the baby will have twice the length and weight of the height and weight before the baby enters the first stage. Girls develop faster bones but the rate of height gain is lower than that of boys. This growth rate will be balanced after seven months.

The baby is more hungry

Your baby will crave more food to meet the nutritional needs of the body;

Your baby will eat more in the 6th month;

Babies who are still breastfed must be fed once an hour.

Sleep more

Babies tend to sleep more during a period of skyrocketing growth. Sleep stimulates the production of growth hormones, facilitates the formation of body cells;

During the growth period, the baby can sleep an additional 4 and a half hours per day;

The total number of hours of sleep will depend on your baby's age. For example, an average 3-month-old baby sleeps 14 hours a day, but during a period of great growth he can sleep 18.5 hours.

Change your behavior

Babies often get frustrated or cling to adults all day long (especially parents);

In many cases, being hungry can be the cause of your baby's discomfort. When breastfed, the baby becomes more comfortable;

The cause of a baby's behavior change during a period of great growth is often unknown. However, it's more likely due to an increase in growth hormones in your baby's body.
