3 types of formula that are popular for babies

Choosing formula for babies is always a concern of many parents. The following basic knowledge about the three main types of formula will help you partially visualize which type of milk is right for your baby's needs.

1. Milk powder made from cow's milk

Most infant formula is cow's milk that has the same formula as breast milk. Today's cow's milk powder is more nutritious and easier to digest than before. Most babies can drink cow's milk powder. Currently on the market there is also a sale of milk powder made from cow's milk exclusively for premature babies who need more abundant nutrition. However, some infants who are allergic to cow's milk protein should not drink these formula.

2. Milk powder made from soy milk

Soymilk powder is made from soybeans and adds a lot of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients during processing. Soymilk powder can be offered to your baby if you don't want your baby to get too much animal protein in other types of milk. You can also give soy infant formula if your baby is intolerant or allergic to cow's milk powder or lactose - a natural sugar found in cow's milk. However, if your baby is allergic to cow's milk, he or she may also be allergic to soy milk as 60% of babies with cow's milk allergy cannot use soy milk either.

3. Milk powder contains hydrolyzed protein

This powdered formula contains protein that has been broken down (hydrolyzed) into a smaller size protein than the protein found in cow and soy formula. Hydrolyzed protein powdered milk can be divided into two types: partially hydrolyzed protein powder and fully hydrolyzed protein powder. Hydrolyzed protein powder is designed specifically for babies who cannot use cow's milk or soy formula. However, you need to take your baby to see a doctor to determine if he or she has a true cow's milk allergy before deciding to use a formula containing hydrolyzed protein.

If you believe your baby has a health problem and needs a special type of milk, take him to the doctor for advice and help promptly.
