Benefits of Cry It Out

Practicing sleeping for children right from the first day after birth is something that few mothers know and apply successfully. However, with mother and daughter, Thuy Chi (28 years old) and Tee (33 months old), currently living in Canada, this sleep practice is very gentle and comfortable.

Practice sleeping through the night by allowing your baby to sleep separately in a crib

Having determined that the spirit will practice sleeping for her child, as soon as she got home from the hospital, Chi let her child sleep separately in the crib. Thus, only 2 months 2 days, the baby was able to sleep through the night from 6:30 the night before to 5:30 the next morning, cutting themselves at night.

Talking about preparing her children to sleep separately from the beginning, Chi said:

“The parents have agreed before giving birth to their children, so after giving birth, it's done. Three days in the hospital, the baby was in a pram. When he returned home, he was in a crib.

Our family does not have a separate room for their children, so their crib is placed in the parents' room, next to the bed. At first, when the baby doesn't know much movement, we drop one side of the railing.

Thus, parents lying in bed can easily see their children, and the job of placing the children in the mother's cot is also much more convenient ”.

Letting your baby sleep separately from a young age is a good habit to make your baby sleep through the night

Great effect from the habit of giving babies separate sleep right after birth

Thanks to letting her sleep separately from the beginning, after just over 2 months, Tee was able to cut off night-feeding and sleep from night to morning.

She added: “I do not have to hold the night for my children, but they adjust themselves to stay overnight. During the month, every 6 p.m., the baby starts to sleep at night, waking up to breast milk every 3 hours.

In the second month, Tee's night starts at 6:30 PM. I got up twice at 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. to eat. After 2 months 3 days, the baby cut off night feeding and slept continuously from 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.

I have the opportunity to interact and share with many mothers, I realize that giving my baby to sleep separately from the beginning can help my child  sleep through the night and skip the night when needed without her having to take any effort. On average, babies who sleep separately will cut themselves off at night when 2-3 months ”.

However, like so many other babies, Tee baby also has different stages of development. So by the time the baby is about 12 months old, he wakes up at night and cannot fall back to sleep.

When she switched the phase of waking up in the middle of the night, Mrs. Thuy Chi practiced sleeping for her again by cry it out method.

Incorporate Cry It Out sleep practices to reduce nighttime crying

By the time the baby is about 12 months old, he wakes up at night and cannot fall back to sleep. At that time, because the baby was growing up, Chi applied the cry it out method for her to sleep.

Instead of running right next to him when he cried, she gave him time to wait, up to 30 minutes. After about 3-5 days, the baby gradually lessens and then on the last day, the baby just wakes up a little and then falls back to sleep.

Principles of cry it out (CIO) method that Ms. Chi applies to her baby Tee:

Put your baby in the crib when he is sleepy but still awake.

Mom said good night to you and left the room.

If your baby cries, letting your baby cry for a certain amount of time is called a waiting time.

The first night, wait 3 minutes for the first time, 5 minutes for the second time and 10 minutes for the third time, each time gradually increase the same time, up to 45 minutes.

The second night, wait 5 minutes for the first time, 10 minutes for the second time and 12 minutes for the third time. Follow intervals 3-5 minutes longer for each wait the next night.

After a while of waiting, the mother came into the room, reassuring the baby by patting her head, slapping her butt, kissing her forehead ..., but absolutely didn't pick her up.

Repeat this process until your baby is able to fall asleep on its own

Children with stuffy nose at night, the causes and how to treat them Children with stuffy nose at night are many different causes. Although not too dangerous, but if not treated, it will lead to lack of oxygen, affecting the health and movement of the child.

Notes on cry it out

In order to apply this method effectively, mothers need to note that before their child's bedtime, mothers must prepare their children carefully:

You must be satisfied, clean diapers, stable room temperature, suitable environment (if you sleep at night, give your child a dark room without noise).

Everything must be guaranteed for a good night's sleep

The baby should be placed in a crib to ensure a safe environment

A few days before applying CIO and continuously while applying this method, parents should confide in their children, tell their children why parents do it, how it works for their children, hope child cooperation

Chi also said that, in practicing sleep with CIOs, the mentality of parents is also very important. Because parents need to study carefully, believe in themselves, believe in their children, believe in the method, be determined to apply and will not give up in the middle.

If applying half-heartedly (in the way of applying 1-2 days, seeing your baby cry too much so stop), the next time you want to reapply it will be extremely difficult (the rate of difficulty will increase exponentially compared to the number of times abandoned)

Because then your baby has formed a sense that if you cry a lot, cry loudly, someone will come to comfort you.

Tee, when 2 years old, is still very active, affectionate, loves her mother even though she sleeps separately from a young age

Benefits of Cry It Out

Regarding the effectiveness of sleeping practice, Ms. Chi said:

Having your baby sleep separately has many benefits, including helping your baby to sleep more deeply and sleep through the night.

Your baby will have the opportunity to excel in all aspects (brain development, increased resistance, being taller, independent ...).

And mom will also have plenty of time to rest or do her own work.

What's more, it's not bad for your baby to sleep separately from birth.

Although there is still a lot of controversy, in the case of Chi's mother and sister, the Cry It Out method of sleeping practice has proved quite effective. Mothers with Vietnamese milk diapers can find out if their baby is suitable to try this method to bring their baby deep and long sleep.
