4 ways to sterilize baby bottles

Disinfecting all tools is the first step you need to do when preparing formula. In addition to the traditional way of boiling, modern mothers can also use the water to wash the bottle or the steamer and microwave oven

Whichever method you choose, the first principles below should always be kept in mind:

Steam can cause serious skin burns, so be careful when boiling or steaming utensils.

- Keep all tools out of the reach of children.

- Avoid touching the sterilizer with your hands and do not touch the inner surface of the bottle or pacifier.

Before applying the disinfection method, you need to wash all equipment in warm water. Next, use a clean brush to clean all traces of the milk, then rinse it off and then disinfect.

Sterilize by boiling

This classical method is still widely applied by mothers because it is economical and simple. Put all tools in a pot, cover them with water, then cover tightly and boil, continue to boil for 5 minutes then turn off the heat and let cool.

Note: You need to make sure that there are no air bubbles inside. In addition, always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before using tools. For unused utensils, store them in a clean box, place in the refrigerator and re-boil after 24 hours if it has not been used.

Use specialized detergents

Bottle sanitizers are usually available in liquid or pill form. You should follow the manufacturer's instructions to get the best effect.

Usually, you need to dissolve the disinfectant with cool water in a glass or plastic sterilizer. Next, submerge the entire bottle, teat, and cap in the reducing water and make sure no air bubbles remain in the bottle. Soak for at least an hour and then remove all tools, drain and do not need to rinse.

Note: You should only soak plastic or glass utensils such as bottles. Metal will rust when soaked in reducing solution. Change the reduced water every 24 hours. You will also need to rinse the disinfectant basin with warm soapy water and rinse it off before you re-mix the new solution.

Autoclave

The steam sterilizer will work when plugged in. When turned on, the machine will operate automatically. You must follow the manufacturer's instructions. Here are a few basic guidelines:

- Put the tools into the sterilizer and fill with water according to the instruction manual.

- Cover and steam sterilize tools in time.

- Keep the lid on until needed to get the bottle.

- Wipe and dry the inside of the sterilizer once a day.

Microwave

When microwaving a bottle, you should carefully follow the instructions for use. In addition, it is important to check how hot the microwave is and never place any metal inside the oven when sterilizing bottles.
