Interesting things about the Stone Age that you can tell your child

There are many teaching issues ranging from teaching children to be human to teaching them more knowledge. Today, you can teach your children about the Stone Age, the first stage in human history.

In the Stone Age, people used tools made of stone. This phase began about 3.4 million years ago and ended when humans started using metal tools. Here are some interesting things you can tell your child about this stage.

1. Three phases of the Stone Age

The Stone Age is divided into three phases: the Old Stone Age, the Middle Stone Age and the Neolithic Age. The exact timing of each period varies in many parts of the world, but it is estimated that the Old Stone Age lasted from the first time people used the ice until the end of the ice age. During this period, men work as hunters. They collect food from neighboring areas and migrate seasonally. Tools are made of bones, wood, plants and leather. Language has also evolved to a certain extent. This period also witnessed the development of arts and religion.

The Middle Stone period lasted from the late ice age to the beginning of the agricultural period. This period saw the development of smaller and better stone tools.

The Neolithic period started from the agricultural period until people knew how to use metals. Animals such as sheep and cows were widely domesticated during this period. They provide human flesh, skin, bones and milk. People also began to develop crafts such as weaving and pottery making. In addition, during this period people also began to pay attention to the role of warriors, rulers, priests, peasants, and leaders.

2. Human origin

About 6-7 million years ago, a group of great apes started walking on two legs, called the southern ape. This is considered the ancestor of modern mankind today. After 3 million years, these creatures begin to look like humans.

Clever people are groups of apes who know how to use tools. They have quite large brains and fast limbs. Hence, they have the knowledge and skills to use the tool. The skillful people lived in the period from 2.4 to 1.6 million years ago.

After the skillful person is the upright person. This human knows how to create fire to keep warm, to intimidate animals, and to cook food. This is the first human ancestor today. The first upright man lived in Africa, then moved on to Europe and Asia. They have large brains and know how to use axes to dig roots and cut meat.

3. Wise people

This is the only human species remaining on earth. Wise people appeared about 200,000 years ago in Africa. It is said that at that time six human species coexisted. After 24,000 years, the wise humans are the only human beings that still exist. After 9,000 years, wise people have been present on all continents, except Antarctica.

A wise person has a slim body and a large brain. They create pictures in caves with images of people and animals. After 5,000 years, wise people began to know how to cultivate crops and food grain.

7. Food in the Stone Age

Humans of this era mainly forage by hunting. So instead of growing food, they go out to find and hunt animals.

After that, people tried to get honey from the hive and eggs from the nest. Their food depends on what they find like berries, ripe fruit, and animal meat.
