Teaching children to go to the toilet by themselves: what should a mother do?

For proper toilet training to be successful, your child must be ready, willing and able. If your baby still has strong resistance, he's probably not ready yet.

Is your child ready for toilet training?

Signs of mental readiness to use the toilet include:

Your baby stays dry for at least 2 hours at a time during the day;

Your baby does not pee during a nap;

Your child's urination is frequent and predictable;

Showing facial expressions, signs or words that indicate that the baby is about to go to the toilet;

Your baby can follow simple instructions;

Babies can go to the bathroom by themselves and ask for help to undress;

The baby seems uncomfortable with dirty diapers;

Baby wants to use the toilet or potty;

Your baby wants to wear underwear.

How to start toilet training?

Once your baby is psychologically ready, toilet training can officially begin. You should:

Place a potty in the baby's room or in the nearest bathroom;

For the first few weeks, let your baby sit on a potty, undress, while you talk to your baby about the fun of using the toilet;

Try taking off your baby's diaper;

Changing diapers while your baby is in the potty;

Pour diaper waste into the potty so that your child understands the meaning of using a potty;

Let your child play without diapers;

Remind your baby to use the potty when needed;

Gradually switch to teaching children to change pants during the day;

Praise when your child goes to the toilet by himself;

Not to mention when the baby blows up.

Even if your baby isn't completely ready for this, you can familiarize your baby with the toilet by:

Keep a handy potty and explain to your baby how to use it;

Allow your child to use the toilet or watch family members of the same gender use the toilet.

The problem of bruising can persist during child training. Don't panic, instead:

Encourage your baby to use the potty right before bed and as soon as he wakes up;

Use diapers only at naps to help your child get used to removing diapers;

Use a plastic sheet on the bed to minimize cleaning;

Reassure your baby that this is very common and common;

Tell your baby that if he wakes up in the middle of the night and needs to use the toilet, he or she can go alone or wake you up.

If bruising is still your child's problem even a year after the exercise, then talk to your pediatrician to find out the best solution. Good luck!
