Rashes in children: Parents don't panic

Suddenly, a rash appears on your baby's skin, which is red or red, itchy, causing him to constantly scratch, even cry. Most of the time, the rash in children is not a concern, but sometimes you need to take your baby to the hospital immediately.

Sick children are a parent's concern and so is when the child has a rash. You may have wondered what the cause of this disease is; how to treat and how to prevent it. All these questions will be answered shortly.

What is a child's rash?

A rash is an itchy, red rash. These red spots may cover part of the body. The rash can be as small as the tip of a chopstick or about the size of a plate due to the coherent redness.

In adults, the rash can be caused by a number of causes other than allergies, such as illness, infection, exercise, and sun exposure. Rashes in children are mostly allergic reactions. The following are common causes of allergies:

Medicines, foods, or pollen and pet stimulants

Insect bites or stings, especially from yellow bees, mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas

Mistletoe, metal from jewelry, perfume and soap.

To know the cause, it is better for parents to have their child tested to suggest a cure. If there is an allergic reaction, the doctor will inject antibodies to form antigens that enter the body and induce immunity.

There are almost no symptoms of rash in babies, because at this stage the child is well-immune and the baby has not been active, exposed to much outside environment. When the child is 2 years old, the immune system is more complete and able to respond to allergies.

How can a child's rash be classified?

The rash is usually classified as acute or chronic. The most common acute rash in children is caused by allergies. Chronic rash (lasting more than six weeks) is currently being studied to find a cure, but this disease is very rare in children.

What are the signs and symptoms of skin rashes in a child?

The rash can start to appear within minutes or hours. After a day, the rash may go away. Sometimes the first to fade, a new hives appear and last for a few days.

When there are signs of a rash, red spots first appear behind the ears, then spread to the face, and then gradually down to the chest, abdomen and body. When the measles rash disappears, they are in the same order as when they appear on the skin, the characteristic measles rash is a papular rash (a rash on the skin), when it flies away, leaving a distinctive dark mark on the skin.

The rash can appear on all parts of the body (or limited to one point). Scratching often due to itching does not spread the rash. When the rash shows signs of spreading, the child scratching causes more histamine release, similar to the rash process only.

Angioedema, swelling under the skin, is not a symptom of urticaria, but can be accompanied by urticaria, often causing swelling of the eyelids and lips. Swollen angioedema can block the airways. So if your child has trouble breathing, get him or her to the emergency room right away.

How to treat a rash in a child?

In general, parents can treat their child at home with antihistamines. Medicines can cause drowsiness or hyperactivity in some cases. If the side effects of the drug are too high, parents need to immediately contact a doctor for a treatment plan.

The goal of treatment is to alleviate itching. You can buy cortisone cream (0.5 or 1%) to apply to the child, along with a cold compress to apply to the affected skin areas.

When your child has angioedema, you can take steroids or antihistamines to control the condition. If there are signs of difficulty breathing, parents should immediately use epinephrine to quickly reduce swelling.

In most cases, the rash will go away within 24 hours, especially the rashes that only float in a small area of the body. You should take your child to a medical center for prompt treatment if the rash shows signs of getting worse, such as floating all over the body, severe itching and swelling.

How to prevent a rash in children?

The first thing you should do is ask what your baby has been exposed to for treatment. The object could be a new food, new jewelry, etc. After that, check your skin for allergies. If the cause is caused by an allergen, the baby should be kept away completely so as not to repeat the above situation.

For children, in addition to an allergic rash, typhus fever is also a very common disease. Rash or typhus fever in children  should be promptly controlled to protect the baby's health. Hopefully the above article can partly relieve parents' worries when their children have a similar situation.
