Benefits of shiitakes for your babys health

Benefits of shiitakes for your baby's health

With rich sources of nutrients such as selenium, iron , fiber, protein and vitamin C , studies have shown significant benefits in adding shiitake mushrooms to your and baby's diets.

The Chinese have used shiitake mushrooms (also known as shiitakes) for medicinal purposes for more than 6,000 years. Hence, it has become a symbol of the longevity of Asia. This special edible mushroom is the second most commonly grown mushroom in the world.

Good source of B vitamins

Shiitake mushrooms provide complex B vitamins that benefit metabolism by helping the body convert food into energy. Vitamin B also helps the body make red blood cells, protecting your child from anemia. Just eat 4 mushrooms and you have 1/7 of riboflavin , 1/5 of niacin and 1/6 of recommended amount of vitamin B6 per day. Mushrooms, when cooked, have fewer vitamins and dried mushrooms contain less riboflavin than fresh mushrooms.

Use to reduce cholesterol

A compound found in shiitake mushrooms scientifically known as eritadenine has been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels. Eritadenine helps to increase the level of cholesterol in the stool which helps to lower the cholesterol level in the blood.

Helps fight cancer

Currently, scientists studying shiitakes realize that this mushroom has some anti-tumor effects in animals. However, more research is needed to apply them in humans. These effects may stem from the fungus' ability to boost the immune system. They contain a compound called lentinan that has been shown to boost the immune system's ability to fight off infections and several other diseases. Lentinan may decrease and slow cancer cell growth while enhancing activity to fight tumors by activating certain cells and proteins that attack cancer.

Powerful antioxidant

Antioxidants help the body fight free radicals that alter cells that lead to cancer. Shiitake mushrooms contain a powerful antioxidant called L-ergothioneine. Studies show that shiitakes contain higher concentrations of L-ergothioneine than chicken liver and wheat germ, two food sources previously believed to contain the highest concentrations of L-ergothioneine.

Some delicious dishes that foster health from shiitakes

Shiitake mushrooms are quite benign and have very few side effects in the body. In rare cases, some people experience a rash from eating or coming into contact with shiitakes caused by the lentinan substance on the mushroom's surface.

Mom can try dishes such as chicken with shiitake mushrooms, fried shiitake mushrooms or stir-fried shiitake mushrooms to treat and take care of your baby and family's health. Using mushroom powder for a long time can cause a number of side effects including stomach upset, photosensitivity and dermatitis.

Thus, in addition to being used as a delicious dish, shiitake mushrooms are also excellent in healing effects. Consider adding this food to your daily meal!
