Behavior and development

How does the baby develop?

By the second week of June, your baby may be able to:

Withstands heavy objects on the legs when held straight;

Sit without support;

Return to the direction where the voice came from;

Teasing (making prank noises with puffing saliva).

 What do you need to do to support your baby?

Your baby may prefer to use one hand for a while and then switch to the other hand. But you won't be able to tell exactly which handed your baby will be until he is about two or three years old. Do not try to influence which handed baby is as this is determined before birth. Forcing your baby to use one hand when he is tending to use the other can confuse him and lead to problems with hand-eye coordination, dexterity and later writing ability.

If you want to teach your child sign language, now is a good time. Giving your child tools for self-expression can help alleviate the discomfort in young children. To get started, try using a hand signal each time you use common words like "book" (open your palms with hands clasped) or "hungry" (put your hands on your stomach).

Babies will love turn-based imitation, especially babies who love sounds and language. Sometimes let your baby be the leader of the game and then imitate his sounds.

Health and safety

What should mom discuss with the doctor?

Depending on your baby's specific condition, the doctor will perform general physical exams, using very different diagnostic techniques and procedures. The doctor or nurse will check for all or most of the following:

Physical examination, including re-examination of any previous problem. Now and in the future, your doctor will check your baby's mouth to check for teeth that have grown or are coming.

Growth rating. Your doctor can rely on your observations and notes about what your baby is doing, or have your baby participate in a series of assessment tests, such as head control when sitting, vision, hearing, or ability ability to reach and grasp objects, scratch small objects, roll over and bear some weight on legs, interact around and try to hear your baby's voice.

Vitamins and supplements

Vitamin D is a supplement for breastfed babies and those who take less than 960 ml of formula per day. While our bodies can produce vitamin D when the skin is exposed to sunlight, it's best to minimize exposure to the sun because babies' skin is extremely thin and sensitive. Every minute of exposure to intense sunlight (after 9 a.m. or before 16 p.m.) contributes to an increased risk of skin cancer and wrinkling in the future - even when the baby's skin doesn't eat the sun. Sunscreen will help keep children safe from the sun, but also prevent the body from producing vitamin D.

As with other vitamins, your doctor may or may not recommend supplementing as your baby's diet gradually diversifies, but there are exceptions. For example, vitamin supplements may be needed if your baby is born prematurely, born at a low birth weight, or is small for gestational age; babies drink less breast milk or formula and eat less foods than other children of the same age or babies with chronic health problems that affect their ability to eat and digest. Ask your doctor if you have any other questions.

Consult your doctor for instructions on the correct dose of vitamins. Never give adult vitamins and supplements to your child, even if you reduce the dose.

You should only give your baby the vitamin prescribed according to the recommended dosage as with other medicines. Overdosing on any vitamin or medicine can interfere with the absorption of nutrients or even be dangerous.

Change in bowel movements

For breastfeeding parents, a change of stools from soft, slimy, non-irritating feces turns black, thick, smelly can be a shocking thing. But remember this is normal. Although your breastfed baby's stools are still softer than a bottle-fed baby until weaning, know that your baby's stools and diet will be more and more like an adult's.

Prevent oral diseases

To prevent oral diseases:

Never give sugary drinks, even before teething, as they will then become accustomed to the sweet taste. Similar to sugary drinks like cranberry juice, cocktail, pickled fruit, mixed juice, fruit drinks or fruit juices, dilute whole fruit juice with water. If possible, give your baby juice from a cup.

When your baby teething, don't put your baby to bed at night or take a nap with a bottle of formula, breast milk or juice. If you have to let your baby drink while going to bed, give him a normal bottle of filtered water, water will not harm his teeth.

Do not let your baby crawl around, suck on bottles and pacifiers uncontrollably. Sucking all day can harm teeth. The bottle suck should be considered part of a main meal or snack and should only be used with the appropriate arrangement (your hand, baby's chair, high chair or other dining chair) and at appropriate times. The same rules apply when babies use cups.

Don't leave your baby on your breasts all night while taking care of your baby. Breast milk can also cause tooth decay if fed overnight.

Stop using the bottle when your baby is 12 months old.

Mother's concern

What are the things you need to care about?

Refuse to bottle-feed in breastfed infants

Try the following tips to help your baby get used to bottle feeding if the breast milk isn't enough for your baby:

Give your baby a bottle on an empty stomach;

Give your baby a bottle while full;

Pretend to be indifferent to your baby when he wants to breastfeed;

Let your baby play before eating to create a feeling of hunger;

Do not let the baby continue to breastfeed;

Put in your baby's favorite water bottle and give it to him to drink;

When your baby sleeps, if your baby asks for a baby, try giving the baby a bottle with a pacifier;

Don't be too drastic when it comes to bottle feeding. Babies need time to gradually get rid of the mother's milk. Sometimes you can still give up and spoil your baby's will, give you a little nipples.
