Behavior and development

How does the baby develop?

Babies seem to be starting to show the first emotional sign: fear of strangers. Your baby can hold close to you, worry when strangers are around, and may even cry if someone suddenly touches him. Just because you are afraid of strangers does not mean you will prevent your baby from interacting with other people. It is better to let your baby be in contact with many people than just you and their father, or a family member. Remember that your baby needs patience and understanding from you to be able to overcome this important developmental milestone.

 At 22 weeks your baby will be able to:

Roll in one direction;

Withstands a few pounds of weight on the legs;

Say words that combine some consonants and vowels;

Teasing (making playful noises with splashing saliva);

Return to the direction of the source of the sound.

What do you need to do to support your baby?

Use family meal time to socialize with your child. Your baby will enjoy watching you eat and maybe even more. In the following months, your baby will be able to easily sit and hold food by hand. This helps to strengthen your baby's eating skills.

The baby can now sit from a supine position and support it with both hands. If your baby is able to sit on its own, stay nearby to provide support, even if you have a pillow in place in case he or she falls. Your baby may have mastered sitting skills, but he or she may still lose interest in standing upright and falling over.

When you're around people your baby doesn't know, try not to be ashamed and shy about crying in the arms of others. Just bring your baby closer to you and calm him down by keeping him with you. Tell your friends and family to approach your baby more slowly and gently.

Health and safety

What should mom discuss with the doctor?

Most doctors will not schedule a checkup for the baby this month. On the plus side, this means your baby won't have any serious problems; on the negative side, you won't be able to tell how your baby is developing. Be prepared to ask questions for the next month's checkup, but don't be afraid to call your doctor right away if you have any concerns you are concerned about and can't wait until your next visit. .

Mother should know more?

Constipation

How often your baby's bowel movements can be dependent on when and what he's eaten, how well he's active and how quickly he or she digests food. Constipation occurs when stool stays in the intestines or a baby delays bowel movements. Your baby can get constipated if you notice the following signs:

Your baby's stool is hard and dry or bloody;

It has been three or more days since the baby's last bowel movement;

The baby showed persistent discomfort when having bowel movements.

If your baby is being fed exclusively with breast milk, constipation is very rare. Talk to your doctor if your baby's stools are hard, dry or painful. When combined with other symptoms such as vomiting or bloating, the baby may have another more serious condition, such as an obstruction of the bowel.

If your baby only drinks formula, constipation can happen because some brands of milk are not suitable for the baby. Ask your doctor about switching different brands of milk for your baby.

If you have given your baby cereal rice, this is most likely the culprit because they contain less fiber. Try adding pureed fruits like pears or prunes or vegetables to cereals. You can also switch to offering cereal oats or barley instead.

Constipation can also be caused by a lack or dehydration, so giving your baby more fluids may help with this. If your baby has been given solids, try to offer him more plum or pear juice. Alternatively, you can give your baby about 30 ml of juice diluted with 30 ml of water or add juice to formula or breast milk after expressing it.

In addition to changing your baby's diet, here are a few tips to get your baby's gut healthy again:

Shake baby's legs in a gentle kick while lying down;

Massage gently but firmly into the abdomen below the navel. If you feel a firm spot on the baby's abdomen, press evenly in that position for a while;

If your baby feels nervous while having bowel movements, put him in a bath of warm water to relax his muscles.

Using glycerin anus inserts or stimulating your baby's rectum with an oil-lubricated rectal thermometer is a temporary measure, however this must be approved by your doctor. If your constipation doesn't improve with the above interventions, doctors may recommend giving your baby some laxative.

Baby pretends to cough

Even from the 5th month, many babies have begun to realize that the world is a stage and you are a huge fan of the audience. So when your baby finds out that a little cough is attracting your attention, he or she often does it innocently to get your attention. As long as your baby is healthy and the cough seems to be well controlled, don't get too concerned about it. Your baby will give this up when things get boring.

Mother's concern

What are the things you need to care about?

Your baby's diet needs the following ingredients:

Protein;

Foods containing calcium;

Whole grains and complex starches;

Green leafy vegetables and fruits, yellow fruits;

Foods containing vitamin C;

Other fruits, vegetables and fruits;

High-fat foods;

Food contains iron;

Food containing salt;

Country;

Vitamin supplements.

Baby's short sleep

Although babies around the fifth month will get three or four regular naps for an hour or more per day, some may sleep up to five or six for twenty minutes at a time, while one others only slept twice but took longer, each about 1.5 to 2 hours. However, the amount and length of your child's sleep isn't as important as how much sleep your baby gets (an average of 14 hours and 30 minutes a day when he is five months old). Longer sleep also means you have more time to do things. In addition, babies who often take naps during the day will also tend to nap at night. You can try to encourage your baby to sleep longer by:

Give your baby a comfortable sleeping place. Putting your baby to sleep on your shoulder not only makes it difficult for you, but also makes it less deep and short.

Keep the room temperature comfortable, neither too hot nor too cold, and make sure your baby is dressed in the right clothes.

Sleep at the right time. Do not let your baby sleep right before a meal on an empty stomach, when he or she needs a diaper change (he will not be able to sleep long if the diaper is wet), when there are guests and noise or any time you Believe your baby won't be able to sleep for long.

Although many babies are able to adjust to their sleep quite well, not all babies can get enough sleep according to their needs. If your baby often appears irritable, he may not get enough sleep or his sleep is not deep and long enough. But if your baby sleeps very little and is still completely happy, you will have to accept the fact that your baby is one of those babies who don't need a lot of sleep.
