Anatomy of the babys fears and worries

Children are often scared and worried. Babies may be afraid of the invisible "dad", crying when he hears thunder and lightning when it turns to rain. What should parents do when having such a baby in the house?

Actually, not only children, but also adults cannot escape fear and anxiety. It's often fearful of having to speak in public; hands and feet trembling when threatened by someone using a weapon ... is very normal. For children, the cause of fear is often simpler such as: worrying about classwork, fear of the dark ... but the feeling is the same as adults. Try to learn your baby's worries and fears to become a strong spiritual support and strength for your baby!

The positive side of fear
Every day, there are many different fears, big and small, in the baby's world. A baby is afraid of something does not mean he lacks courage. Actually, fear has a positive side. For example, fear of cutting your hand will not come near the sharp knife and it will be safer; fear of fire the baby will not come too close to the fireplace and not burn; fear of poor grades, children will work harder ...

Fear sometimes helps to sharpen, sharpens feelings and helps children "cope" with things better. We even enjoy the feeling of fear in many adults. Isn't that the reason why horror movies are always crowded with people, thrilling games always have many people who like to try.

How does fear dominate the baby?
Have you ever wondered why the heart is usually beating faster and faster, breathing accelerated when feeling scared? These reactions of the body can be called "fight or escape". All people have reactions from an infant.

So how are the reactions of fear happening inside the baby's body? Imagine that you are an ancient man living in a cave 100,000 years ago. When you come face-to-face with a long, hungry tigers, what do you do? You have 2 options: 1- run away; 2- Pick up a tree to fight. (And another last option is to be eaten)

Today, when you are confronted with someone who is threatening you (of course he will not listen to you). You still only have two options: 1- turn away (or run); 2- Fighting back, even fighting won't solve the problem.

In order to decide whether to fight or escape, your body will adapt itself to a number of responses to accommodate quick actions. The heart will beat faster to pump more blood to the muscles and brain. The lungs absorb air faster to supply oxygen to the body. The pupil also dilates for better vision. The digestive and urinary systems will now work more slowly than usual to favor more important reflex reactions.

"Anatomy" of the baby's fears and worries

Anxiety and fear bring many negative feelings to your baby.

The Difference Between Fear and Anxiety
Usually our bodies get in a fighting or escape state when faced with something. However, if similar sensations arise even when nothing dreadful has occurred, it is definitely worry.

With some babies, feelings of fear and anxiety can appear at any time. Others are only afraid when they leave the house or go to strange places. Some children also have special phobias (for example, phobia of certain forms) such as fear of heights, fear of fluffy things, fear of spider silk, fear of number 13 ...

When a child is anxious there may be other feelings such as: chest pain, abdominal pain, dizziness or a bad feeling about something going to happen. An anxious child will need very much comfort, to rub off the bad feelings that are going on. The important thing to do is to direct your child's attention to something else and best to put them to sleep.

Why children develop anxiety
Anxiety is a very common psychological state. A child may appear and anxiety arises and persists after an event such as a car crash or an accident. Some cases of oral drugs, alcohol, and cocaine also cause this sensation.

In human brain cells there are many different chemicals. Normally, they balance and influence how we feel and act. In it, there is a substance called serotonin that plays the role of sending information from one nerve cell to another. But for an anxious person, the brain's balance of chemicals isn't doing its job well.

Scientists believe that a special area in the brain controls a person's fight or flight response. With anxiety, it was like this particular area got stuck and kept the 'on' button on even if it wasn't intimidating. That makes it difficult for your baby to focus on everyday things.

Coping with anxiety
There are many ways you can help your baby ease her worries. Try to listen to children, understand the things they fear, worry instead of thinking that it is "trivial" of children. If your baby is afraid of too many things and too often density is also the time you should see the child psychologist.

In addition, you should also teach your baby to deal with fears. For example, if your baby is afraid of the dark, sit with him in the dark and explain that nothing dangerous will happen. Or teach your baby to escape if the situation is really dangerous.
