Improve cervical mucus like egg whites for easy conception

Cervical mucus is secreted by glands in and around the cervix. Hormonal changes during a woman's cycle alter the amount and consistency of mucus. The cervical mucus is responsible for preventing foreign objects from entering the uterus and nourishing, helping sperm pass through the cervix to meet the egg.

Just before ovulation, the hormone estrogen increases cervical mucus and changes it into a viscous solution. This helps sperm to survive and swim more easily. After ovulation, the hormone progesterone causes cervical mucus to become sticky and thick, preventing sperm (and any other foreign agent) from entering the uterus. During one cycle, cervical mucus changes in condition as follows:

Menstruation (not cervical mucus, but you can't recognize it when you get your period)

Dried

The mucus is the same color as the lotion

Wet and water

The mucus resembles egg whites

Concentrated set

Dried

Menstruation returns

When cervical mucus is wet or shaped like egg whites, ovulation is approaching. If you want to get pregnant, this is the best time to have sex. So to know where you are in your cycle and when you are about to ovulate, you can predict it by examining your cervical mucus.

How to check cervical mucus?

1. First, wash and dry your hands.

2. Choose a comfortable position, such as sitting on the toilet, squatting, standing and placing one foot on the tub or toilet.

3. Place a finger inside your vagina, preferably with your index finger. Be careful not to scratch your vagina. Depending on the amount of cervical mucus your body releases, you don't need to insert your finger too deeply, but ideally from the area near the cervix.

4. Remove your finger from the vagina and observe the thickness of the mucus. Touch each other with your index finger and thumb, then slowly move away. If you see mucus:

Dry and compared:  You are not ovulating.

Looks like creams, lotions: Ovulation day may be coming, but not yet conception.

Wet, watery, and slightly stretchy: Ovulation comes very close.

Wet, can stretch between fingers about 2.5cm or more and resembles raw egg whites:  This is a very fertile time so it is good to schedule a sex session if you want to have a baby .

Please see how to calculate other ovulation days through the article  How to calculate the date of ovulation for easy conception or contraception as you like . Also, to find out the date of ovulation, you can use aFamilyToday Health's Ovulation Software.

Note when examining cervical mucus

Do not test mucus right after sexual intercourse. It will be difficult to distinguish the vaginal discharge from a love affair or your husband's semen from this mucus.

Not everyone can feel comfortable inserting a finger inside the vagina for self-examination. If you find this difficult for you, you can pay attention to whether your pussy is wet by looking on your underwear or toilet paper after you urinate.

Consider checking cervical mucus after having a bowel movement (severe bowel movements). The cervical mucus moves down closer to the entrance to the vagina, making it easier to check.

Some drugs can interfere with the thickening of cervical mucus. Antihistamines dry out your sinuses but also dry cervical mucus. In this case, you may not be able to see much of your cervical mucus before ovulation. So, you should use another method to predict your ovulation.

If you never have cervical mucus, see your doctor. Lack of cervical mucus could be a sign of a hormonal imbalance or you're having a fertility problem.

You may notice cervical mucus returning just before your period . Some women find that cervical mucus becomes wet or almost egg-like again just before menstruation.

Do not try to wash off natural vaginal discharge. Some women wash off vaginal discharge because they think they are unsanitary or unhealthy, but douching can decrease your fertility.

Tips to help cervical mucus like raw egg whites

Your cervical mucus is in good shape, your chances of getting pregnant will be higher. To keep mucus in good condition, please refer to the following ways:

1. Drink water

To increase cervical mucus, drink enough fluids. Like most body secretions, cervical mucus is mainly composed of water. Less cervical mucus is produced if you become dehydrated. So be sure to drink 8 glasses of water a day to stay healthy. If you do not like drinking water, use green tea to improve the condition of mucus.

2. Provide L-Arginine

Supplement with amino acid L-Arginine to aid in cervical mucus release. This substance helps to release nitric oxide, improves blood flow to the uterus and vagina. This helps you release more secretions, especially during ovulation. It can increase libido so you can have more orgasms.

3. Eat fruit

Some women report that grapefruit juice helps them increase cervical mucus. You can drink fresh grapefruit juice or eat one per day. In addition to grapefruit, pineapples, especially the core of the pineapple, have similar effects. They increase the prostaglandin and pH of the cervical mucus making it the best medium for spermatozoa.

4. Eat carrots

What to eat to increase cervical mucus, a suggestion for you is the carrot. This root vegetable is rich in beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A. Low levels of vitamin A are associated with cervical mucus. Vitamin A from food sources will improve the volume and quality of good cervical mucus. And synthetic vitamin A in supplements is not recommended for use during conception. In high levels, vitamin A can cause birth defects. Therefore, you should eat it raw or drink carrot juice.

5. Herbal supplement

Some herbal supplements have mucus protection properties in the body. These herbs have been used for centuries to improve blood flow, balance hormones and support reproductive organs.

You can take these herbs in the form of teas, capsules or oral decoctions. The best herbs for increasing cervical mucus are:

Licorice

Shu kneeling

Red clover

Ginger

Gingko biloba  ( ginkgo biloba )

6. Change your treatment

If you want to improve your health and fertility, you should make an appointment with a therapist. Some therapies you can try are acupressure, acupuncture, or aromatherapy like rose otto essential oil (rose otto) that is recommended to increase mucus but be careful when conceiving. So stop using essential oils after you ovulate.

7. Use cough syrup

Using a cough syrup can thin thick cervical mucus. This makes it easier for the sperm to swim through the vagina. The main ingredient in cough syrup is guaifenesin, which works to reduce mucus in the body. Follow the directions on the syrup bottle from the last day of your period until you are ovulating.

8. Evening primrose oil

Taking primrose oil supplements will thin and increase cervical mucus. There are prostaglandins in the semen, so the fact that this essential oil encourages the body to produce more prostaglandins will make the vagina the perfect environment for sperm to move. It's important to remember to stop taking these supplements as soon as you ovulate. It can irritate the uterus after this point and may cause problems with embryo transplantation into the uterus.

9. Vitamin C

One dose of vitamin C can improve the quantity and stability of mucus by increasing the amount of water in cervical mucus. This vitamin also increases blood flow to the uterus, making it more suitable for pregnancy. There are many fruits that are abundant in vitamin C including oranges, strawberries, and peppers. However, be careful not to overdose as too much vitamin C can cause your mucus to be strongly acidic.

10. Flaxseed

If you are wondering what to eat to increase cervical mucus, then flaxseed is a great choice for you. This nut can improve the level of estrogen in the body making mucus better. It has the same effect as primrose oil. However, you can eat flaxseed throughout the entire cycle as flaxseeds provide the body with many healthy fatty acids that can help your baby develop healthy.

11. Eat healthy

For better quality cervical mucus, start increasing the amount of vegetables in your diet. This will make mucus more alkaline (high pH). Sperm survives better in alkaline than acidic environments. You can also start by cutting back on processed foods that are acidic and sugary.

12. Advocacy

Exercise can increase the quality and quantity of cervical mucus. Increased blood flow around your entire body makes the mucus-producing cells work better. Mucus is rich in oxygen and nutrients, making it a great environment for sperm to swim in.

13. Avoid taking antihistamines

Regular use of allergy medications or decongestants can dry out cervical mucus. If you absolutely need to take these medications to treat your illness, you should choose other ways to improve cervical mucus.

14. Use lubricating gel

If your body is producing less cervical mucus, use a sperm-safe lubricating gel instead of a regular lubricating gel. Most conventional lubricants are not sperm-friendly. And the sperm-safe lubricating gel has a formula similar to the cervical mucus, so it can support conception.

15. Limit dairy products

If you eat a lot of dairy products (butter, cheese ...), it can affect cervical mucus. Dairy foods thicken cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to swim through. In addition, these foods are acidic and can lower the pH of mucus.

If you want to provide calcium for your body, eat plenty of whole grains and leafy vegetables. Calcium-rich foods except milk can also help keep mucus at a good pH for sperm.

16. Don't smoke

When trying to have a baby, it's best to quit smoking. Smoking dehydrates your body and can decrease the amount of mucus your body makes.

A study at the University of North Carolina, USA , has shown that nicotine levels are found in cervical mucus in women who smoke. This is not only a bad start for the fetus but also increases the chances of developing cervical cancer .

17. Review surrounding chemicals

Chemicals surrounding your everyday life can affect your body and destroy hormones. A hormone imbalance can lead to less cervical mucus or even affect your ovulation.

Products with a strong fragrance such as cosmetics, deodorizers, candles or room deodorants can be the cause of this condition. Try switching to natural products if possible.

18. Cut back on caffeine

If you enjoy drinking a lot of tea, coffee, soda or energy drinks then it's time to cut back on them. Caffeine can dehydrate your body and you need to drink more water leading to poor quality cervical mucus with low pH, which is not good for sperm.

If you're having trouble with no cervical mucus, then it's a good idea to skip caffeine during your menstrual cycle to see if it makes a difference.
