Vitamin supplement for children with oral tablets: Should or not?

Many mothers often whisper to each other to give their children multivitamins to eat and grow. However, this can be harmful if the content is incorrect for the child's physicality and age .

Everyone knows that taking vitamin supplements is the fastest way to help children get the necessary amount of vitamins in case the food does not provide enough. However, is this the best way?

Should children take vitamin supplements?

Experts do not agree that all children need a daily multivitamin or mineral supplement. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that a supplement only be given to children when prescribed by a doctor, not to take it by themselves because it may exceed the recommended amount. Most kids don't need supplements because there are many popular foods that contain fortified vitamins and other minerals.

Most experts agree that:

Some children - such as vegans or those with food allergies - may need a daily supplement to meet certain vitamin or mineral needs of the body. However, you must take your child to a doctor or a registered dietitian for the right amount;

Supplements are not a substitute for foods. If your child is lazy to eat, giving him multivitamin is just one step to improve nutrition because he or she is not eating enough.

Which vitamins are best for children?

Here are 3 important vitamins children need for their development:

Vitamin A : This vitamin helps to strengthen the immune system and helps in healthy eyesight. In addition, it also helps support children's vision in dim light and maintains healthy skin. Food sources of vitamin A include carrot dairy products, sweet potatoes, turnips, mangoes, dark green vegetables like spinach, cabbage, and broccoli.

Vitamin C: This vitamin supports the immune system and helps the body absorb iron. Food sources of vitamin C include oranges, kiwis, strawberries, broccoli, tomatoes, and peppers.

Vitamin D : This vitamin promotes healthy bones and teeth by helping the body absorb calcium. Children need to have a balance in sun exposure within safe limits and prevent harmful rays in order to absorb vitamin D well. Vitamin D is only found in a handful of foods, including eggs and fish oil.

Parents need to pay attention when giving children vitamin supplements?

Vitamins are made to be easily eaten by children, so they are often in the form of candy. Because of this, babies can eat a lot at the same time. But consuming too many vitamins and minerals (especially iron) can be dangerous or even fatal. So treat vitamins like medicine and keep vitamin bottles out of your child's reach at all times.

To be safe, call your doctor right away if you suspect your child is taking vitamins on his own, even if it doesn't contain iron.

Modern life makes parents unable to pay much attention to their children's meals. Therefore, many people choose vitamin supplements as a quick method. In the end, however, nothing really is better and safer for babies than getting their own vitamins from raw foods. So if parents have free time, do your best to cook nutritious meals for their children.
